They say that the kitchen is the heart of the house and for many of us, it is the truth. The kitchen is the center of the entire operation, it is where food is cooked, where things are made, where homework is completed, where people gather no matter the occasion.
When it’s time to renovate your kitchen, however, what can you actually need? Some may say they want more counter space. More counter space beside the fridge, the stove and the microwave gives you landing room for whatever you happen to be holding or doing near these appliances. More counter space in the kind of an island is also a fantastic idea, as it can also home cabinets and shelves, can be portable (especially great in a little kitchen) and also house a second sink.
Some might say that they need more space interval. Who would not love a spacious, airy and light kitchen?
You might want to incorporate more electrical outlets because lets face it, there are so many things that need to be plugged in in a kitchen. You can never have enough outlets.
Same for recycling, is there ever enough space for it all? Well there can be with dedicated cupboards to store the plastics and metal cans and a drawer to hold all the recyclable magazines and newspapers till pick up day. This keeps them out of the way.
Do you want a message center? Possibly a white board and a chalkboard for composing notes to family members or Rockledge Raccoon Removal and hanging up child’s artwork. Again, include everything to one area and everybody will check it out before leaving for the day.
Maybe your old kitchen doesn’t have functional cupboards, but making the corner cabinets massive lazy Susans is a great idea for a reno. You get tons more room and the shelves will probably go all the way back to the wall and take up the corner instead of having a lender of drawers that does not make good use of space.
Whatever you decide it is best to start with a wishlist and produce a few sketches of what you need your dream kitchen to look like. It’s after all, the most important room in the home.
